When dealing with issues of the dust collector framework, it is necessary to first shut down the equipment, cut off the power supply and release the pressure, then
conduct graded disposal according to the fault type, and resolve the problem through the whole process covering repair, replacement and source prevention.
Tiered Handling Scheme for Common Faults
Minor Deformation (Correctable for Reuse)
Judgment Criteria: Slight bending, slight ellipticity of the orifice ring, no broken ribs, no weld detachment, and intact coating.
Operation Method: Place the cage horizontally on a flat ground. Two operators work in tandem to press the bent section slowly in opposite directions for correction;
operate in sections for long cages. For out-of-round orifice rings, gently tap with a rubber mallet to restore the shape, and re-measure the verticality deviation via a
pull wire to ensure it is ≤1‰.
Moderate Deformation (Correction + Reinforcement)
Judgment Criteria: Large bending amplitude, local twisting, a small number of detached welds, and no fracture of the main steel wire material.
Operation Method: Complete shape correction first, perform repair welding on the detached weld positions, and grind the weld joints after welding to remove burrs.
Add auxiliary ribs and reinforcing rings at weak points, re-coat the damaged coating, and put it into use only after the coating is fully dry.
Severe Deformation (Direct Scrapping and Replacement)
Judgment Criteria: Presence of springback from permanent dead bends, broken longitudinal/annular ribs, multiple weld detachments that cannot be reinforced, and
large-area corrosion that reduces the wall thickness.
Operation Method: Directly replace with a brand-new cage to avoid forced reuse which would abrade the filter bag and cause higher operation and maintenance costs.
Issues of Corrosion, Burrs and Weld Overflow
Corrosion: Polish slight rust spots with sandpaper and re-apply anti-corrosion coating; replace directly in case of severe corrosion to prevent rust residues from abrading
the filter bag.
Burrs/Weld Overflow: Grind all sharp parts with an angle grinder to avoid tearing the filter bag after installation.
Weld Detachment: Polish the cracked welds before performing repair welding, select matching welding wire to form a continuous weld bead, remove the welding slag
after welding and verify no missing welds.
Core Source Prevention Measures
Material Selection Matched with Working Conditions: For high-load working conditions, select reinforced cages with thicker wire diameters and denser annular ribs; for
high-temperature/corrosive environments, prioritize hot-dip galvanizing, silicone spraying, or 304/316L stainless steel materials.
Standardized Installation Operations: Keep the cage vertical throughout the process, lower it gently and slowly, strictly forbid oblique insertion and forced prying; use a
guide sleeve to assist alignment, never strike the cage with a hammer to position it, and ensure the cage is centered and fits properly with the tube sheet hole.
Optimize Operating Environment: Inspect and repair the deflector plate of the box body to correct biased flow, and calibrate the venturi tube to center the jet airflow;
install shock-absorbing pads on the fan to reduce resonance, and add limit brackets at the bottom of long-bag dust collectors.
Daily Inspection and Intervention: Check the firmness of welds and annular ribs monthly, immediately extract and correct the cage upon detecting minor deformation;
adjust the ash cleaning frequency according to the characteristics of dust to avoid excessive rapping that exacerbates metal fatigue.
Special Treatment for Specific Working Conditions
Condensation-Induced Corrosion: Install far-infrared electric heaters or radiators to raise the flue gas temperature, strengthen equipment heat preservation, control the
air leakage rate of the dust collector body below 3.5%, and avoid local low-temperature condensation.
Bottom Dust Accumulation: Modify the bottom disc of the cage into a circular ring shape, remove the sealing structure at the bottom of the filter bag and stitch a
cylindrical cloth, regularly untie the cloth pocket to discharge accumulated dust into the ash hopper, and reduce deformation of the cage caused by long-term
dragging of accumulated dust.
